Keke Palmer to Play First Black Cinderella on Broadway

Actress Keke Palmer will make history as the first African-American Cinderella on Broadway. She starts on September 9, after Paige Faure steps down to lead the national tour.

This is Palmer’s Broadway debut, previously she has starred in several TV shows and movies. She is most well-known for starring in “Akeelah and the Bee” and gathered a younger following with “True Jackson, VP.” She has also been in “Joyful Noise” and “The Trip to Bountiful.”

Palmer is also the youngest talk show host in history with her show, “Just Keke.” She can currently be seen as Coral, Libby Master’s maid on the show “Masters of Sex.”

She has also released a debut album, “So Uncool” in 2007, and has said that singing is her passion. She has also stated previously that she would love to perform on Broadway. Wishes do come true!

Cinderella has been multicultural before, the 1997 TV cast included Whoopi Goldberg and Whitney Houston, among others, including Brandy in the title role. However, this is a first for the show on Broadway.
