One of the most famous horse races in the United States takes place this weekend. The 137th Kentucky Derby will be run on May 7th, preceded by the Kentucky Oaks on May 6th.
According to the official Kentucky Derby website, all reserved and box seat tickets have been sold out. However, general admission tickets are still available. General admission tickets are $40 per person.
General admission tickets allow access to the paddock area, the Gate 10 corridor, and the infield. However, these tickets do not include seating or visual access to the track itself. Those purchasing general admission tickets will be able to view the horses approximately half an hour before each race begins and will be able to watch the races on television screens in various locations.
According to the Kentucky Derby website, anyone wanting to purchase Bacardi Infield Club/ Reserved Seating packages should be cautious. These tickets are no longer available from Churchill Downs and are being sold by third parties. Some of these parties are attempting to sell the tickets separately. However, the tickets cannot be used separately. Both a Bacardi Infield Club ticket and a reserved grandstand seat ticket in Sections 122-125 are required for admission.
Buyers should be aware of the value of the Bacardi Infield Club/ Reserved Seating ticket package. The package for both days is $555. For the Derby only, the ticket package is $318, and for the Oaks day only it is $266. The racetrack cannot guarantee any tickets that are not purchased directly from the track or from its partner, Quint Events. General admission tickets are available through kentuckyderby.com
