During a press conference at the Venice Film Festival last Thursday for Madonna’s upcoming film “W.E.,” Madonna accepted a highly unwanted gift from a fan… A bouquet of Hydrangeas.
This flower for you,” said the fan, as he approached Madonna in front of the gathered media and presented her the flowers. “You are my princess. Thank you so much.”
Madonna quickly passed off the gift underneath the table while rolling her eyes and making a face before telling actress Andrea Riseborough on her right, “I absolutely loathe Hydrangeas. He obviously doesn’t know that.”
Later, as Madonna was leaving, the microphone-equipped flower-giver approached her and asked what had happened to the flowers he’d given her.
“Oh, um, my assistant took them,” said Madonna.
Madonna’s rep told CNN that “She’s entitled to like any flower she wants and she didn’t want to hurt the feeling of the hydrangeas of the world…No disrespect to the hydrangeas lovers of the world but she prefers different types of flowers.”
