Marvel Entertainment has teased on its Youtube page that its Avengers superheroes will be assembling on what is rumored to be the next version of the popular Disney Infinity video game.
The teaser, shown below, shows Captain America’s shield flying through several Disney Infinity playset levels. Neither Marvel nor Disney itself have confirmed exactly which superheros will be joining the game’s roster or what exactly the 2.0 Edition signifies.
Disney Infinity was released for the Wii U, playstation 3 and Xbox 360 systems and has sold over 3 million start packs. Popular games graced the game in the form of collectable figurines that when placed on a portal peripheral, can be played inside the videogame in both a sandbox mode and a single player adventure.
The Wall Street Journal had also previously reported that Disney was working on integrating its Star Wars franchise within the Disney Infinity framework. There has been no word as to whether or not Star Wars will be joining the Avengers or if there will be more than one “edition” of the game.
Whether the 2.0 Edition is an expansion (DLC) or an entirely new version of the game, one thing is certain – it will sell like hotcakes. Will you buy it and which hero do you hope to see?
