Microsoft announced today that the eagerly anticipated Halo 5 will be released in fall of next year with the title: Halo 5: Guardians.

Microsoft is hoping that the release of another installment in the Halo series will be enough to draw customers away from PlayStation4 to their struggling Xbox One console.

The Halo franchise is Microsoft’s most profitable video game series and is being developed by 343 Productions, the studio responsible for Halo 4.

“Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4,” 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross said in a statement. “That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand-new and more powerful engine.”

Microsoft did not say whether it would be exclusive to the Xbox One or if it would be available on the older Xbox 360.
