Children of the 90’s, rejoice! Your prayers have been answered!
A new live-action Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie is in the works and will soon come to a theater near you.
Lionsgate has announced a partnership with Saban Brands to produce a feature film that will bring live-action Power Rangers to the big screen. Saban re-acquired the Power Rangers franchise from Disney in 2010, making this project possible.
In its announcement, Lionsgate explained “The new film franchise will re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world.”
The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series ran from 1993 to 1996, with a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie released during the summer of 1995.
Since then, there have been multiple spin-offs, introducing a new generation of fans to Power Rangers. Between the younger generation of fans and those that remember the original Power Rangers, Lionsgate is hoping that a new live-action movie will have wide-spread appeal.
Even though there’s no timetable for its release, are you excited that there’s going to be a new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie?
