Based on a true story and being lead by George Clooney The Monuments Men may be one for the record books.
Clooney has compiled a team of A-list actors to take on this project. To name just a few: Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bill Murray and Bob Balaban.
The movie is based on the group of soldiers who were tasked for securing art and other key important historical pieces of Jewish culture in order to protect their history from Hitler’s destructive path.
Hitler and his Nazi’s are attempting to sweep the Jewish people from the face of the Earth, along with their culture, art, music and anything else related to the ethnic group. The Monuments Men are looking to secure and protect these highly treasured pieces of art and culture.
Being a 6 – 7 man team of soldiers taking on an army of Hitler’s propagandists is one of the struggles that group is faces early in the movie. The next is that the group of men selected is actually quite aged and not entirely well suited for war.
The movie is scheduled to be released on December 18th, 2013, just before Christmas.
As with any WWII movie, you can expect action scenes and, of course, explosions and gun fights.
However, this isn’t your typical WWII movie with all the intense drama and killing that you would associate with a movie from that time period. As you can see in the trailer below, this movie is actually a comedy in a sense.
