General Mills has expanded their flour recall after the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that 4 more people from 2 different states (Minnesota and Wisconsin) have become ill from E.Coli linked to the flour.
One person is seriously ill and has been hospitalized for a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome; The CDC said this is due to a prolonged E. coli illnesses that lasts longer and is more severe.
Another 15 million pounds of flour have been recalled from the Kansas City, MO plant responsible for the outbreak, bringing the total to 45 million; the recall is now in 21 states.
So far, 46 people in total have become sick, with 13 requiring hospitalization; the youngest person to become sick is a 1 year old, while the oldest is 95.
The original recall pertained to flour products with dates from November 4, 2015 through December 4, 2015. The expansion includes select production dates through February 10, 2016.

The CDC says signs of E.Coli illness include stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and fever; symptoms can last 5-7 days. Those who are very old or very young, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems have a greater risk of becoming sick.
Anyone with one of the recalled products in their possession should immediately remove it from their homes.
General Mills is issuing replacements for their products and will also answer any questions you may have.
