The most accurate global map of mars so far has been developed by NASA and the Mars Odyssey spacecraft. the map is available to researchers and the public.
The map is made of almost 21,000 different images taken by the Thermal Emission Imaging System on the Odyssey. The map has been compiled over the last eight years, as images have been taken by the Arizona State University’s Mars Space Flight Facility in Tempe, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, Calif.
Users have the ability to pan and zoom through the images. Surface details of 330 feet wide can be seen at the highest magnification. Some parts of mars have been photographed at higher resolution, but this map is the most accurate of the planet of mars as a whole.
