NBA 2010-11 Finals: Dallas Mavericks Level At 2-2, Fifth Game On June 9

The Dallas Mavericks came back well again to tie the NBA Finals at two games apiece and now it is going to be a best of three match-up against the Miami Heat. Interestingly, this is the second year in a row that the NBA Finals have seen a 2-2 scoreline, after the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers were also tied at the same score in the previous season.

This means that the fifth game of the NBA Finals assumes a lot of importance, especially if one looks at the record. There have been 26 instances of the NBA Finals being tied at two games apiece and of them, the team winning the fifth game has gone on to win the championship on 19 occasions. Clearly, niether the Dallas Mavericks or the Miami Heat will want to go down in this Game 5.

Dirk Nowitzki, who played the fourth game with the flu, said that they would love to win the fifth game, because a loss would mean that his Mavericks go to Miami down 2-3 – hardly a pleasant scenario. The Heats have had the lead on two of the occasions but each time, the Mavericks have comeback with narrow wins.

The Dallas Mavericks versus Miami Heat NBA, Game 5, will be played on June 9 at the American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas.
