In 1994 “The Magic School Bus” premiered, bringing science to kids with a fun twist.
Even though its been 16 years since it went into syndication, kids are still enjoying Ms. Frizzle’s adventures courtesy of Netflix.
Now it’s coming back in a whole new way.
Netflix announced they will be launching “The Magic School Bus 360°” as a computer-animated program. Twenty-six half-hour shows have already been ordered.
The Magic School Bus 360 is expected to launch in 2016.
According to Deborah Forte, president of Scholastic Media, they are hoping to reach out to elementary schools and make “Magic School Bus” a fun part of the science curriculum.
So we’ll get to see Ms. Frizzle and her bus again, all updated for a new generation.
With Netflix’s acquisition of several Scholastic properties, like “Clifford the Big Red Dog” and “Goosebumps”, hopefully we will be seeing more classic shows in a new light.
As a parent of young children, I love being able to sit down with my kids and watch the shows I grew up watching. And they take more interest in the show knowing that.
What do you think of the re-launch? Are there other shows you would like to see brought back for today’s youth? Let me know below!
