Barnes & Noble may be getting ready offer shoppers a new version of their Nook Tablet.
TheVerge published a document this morning that indicates a new Nook Tablet will be launched this Wednesday, February 22. The primary change in the new Nook will be that this version has less internal storage. The documentation indicates the new Nook will have 8 GB of storage. The original Nook Tablet has 16 GB.
The current 16 GB version of the Nook sells for $249. A drop in the amount of storage would likely suggest a corresponding drop in price. It’s expected that the new nook will be priced to better compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire, which sells for $199. The Kindle Fire also has 8 GB of storage.
The document indicates that the new Nook will be delivered to Walmart stores between February 18 and February 21, and will go on sale at 12:01 AM on Wednesday morning. It’s not likely that Walmart would have an exclusive on the product. If it’s available there, it should show up in Barnes & Noble stores, Target stores, and other Nook distributors on Wednesday too.
