New Featurette For The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones

New Featurette For The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones

Coming to theaters this August

Coming at the end of this summer is The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones.

The upcoming fantasy movie is based on the first book of a six book series called The Mortal Instruments. The series is written by Cassandra Clare.

The film is more than month away, but Sony is already plugging the move as much as possible.

Today the studio released a new behind-the-scenes look at the movie.

The featurette is your basic ‘first look,’ as it provides a quick rundown of the story and how the stars feel about their parts and the overall experience.

If you’re thinking this film looks in awfully lot like Twilight… this featurette certainly won’t change your mind. There seem to be a  fantasy romance vibe in this video – which may or may not win newcomers to the series.

City of Bones tells the story of Clary Fray, just your average teenager living a normal life.

That all changes when she begins to see invisible people and creatures, and she discovers she is a Shadowhunter… part human, part angel.

After her mother disappears, Clary joins a group of Shadowhunters to fight off against evil and locate her mother.

The film stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey, Kevin Durand, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, CCH Pounder, Jared Harris and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Fans of the book series are likely to see this film. But will the latest fantasy novel-turned-film be able to find success this summer?

We’ll know soon enough. The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones, will arrive in theaters August 21st.

Here’s the featurette:
