New GoPro Hero Cameras: What’s New | Hero3+ Black Goes On Sale

GoPro released three new cameras today.

This new lineup includes an adept entry level camera, Hero, priced at $129, and the crown jewel; Hero4 Black, priced at $499, which can shoot 4K video at 30 frames per second.

GoPro also announced a major expansion at Best Buy of GoPro cameras and accessories.

With a vast range of accessory options like a dog harness, head strap, chest harness, tripod mounts, helmet mount, and wrist housing, GoPro claims to fulfill all your adventure passions from skydiving to snowmobiling.

Hero4 Black:

Hero4 Black boasts twice the video resolution of the previous Hero3+ Black model, with 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. The top of the line Hero4 Black captures 1080p video at 120 frames a second and pictures at 12MP. It ensures connectivity to your smartphone and GoPro app with its built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Hero4 Silver:

Priced at $399, this model also has an LCD preview screen to view footage. The touchscreen display makes setting adjustments, viewing and framing shots easier. Earlier, viewing was possible only by pairing the camera with a phone or through separate accessories. Hero4 Silver captures 1080p footage at 60 frames a second and 720p video at 120 frames per second. It, too, supports built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Both new models promise better performances in low-light situations than their predecessors.

Hero:

If you are not sure about using all the Hero4 features, this scaled back and affordable choice might impress you. This tiny, waterproof camera can shoot 720 p videos at 60 frames per second and 1080 p at 30 frames per second. It captures 5MP stills at up to five frames per second.

GoPro will also release an updated version of their free GoPro Studio Software. This updated version will support resolutions up to 4K and will auto compile time-lapsed pictures into a movie fill. GoPro Studio Software enables easy video editing, has color filter and manual adjustments for speed, exposure and color balance. It supports Canon, Nikon, H.264 mp4 and .mov4 format apart from GoPro.

To compensate for the lack of display feature that come only with the new Silver Hero4, GoPro has an app for Apple and Android devices.

With the launch of new Hero4 models, Amazon has slashed Hero3+ Black price to $349 from $399.
