New Redbox Apps Available For Androids and iPhones

The DVD and Blu-ray movie rental company Redbox is pushing out new mobile applications for Android phones and iPhones.

The iPhone app is an upgrade for the existing iPhone Redbox app. The app for Android phones is brand-new.

Gary Cohen, senior vice president of marketing and customer experience for Redbox, said “The free Redbox Android app and upgraded iPhone app provide mobile users an interactive portal to view and rent new release movies from any of our more than 26,000 locations nationwide. Our online and mobile tools instantly connect consumers to our retail locations nationwide, delivering real-time access to inventory at any location from virtually anywhere.”

Like the iPhone Redbox app, the new android app will assist users in finding a nearby Redbox kiosk, search through DVD and Blu-ray movie titles with box art, and reserve the movie(s) they select.

The original Rebox iPhone app was released in December of 2009. According to the company, the newer version provides more content and faster connection speeds.

The Redbox iPhone app can be found for free at the App store, and the Android app can be found at the Android Market.
