The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or TMNT have been around since the mid-eighties in both comics and television.
The most recent televised version of the turtles is the Nickelodeon TMNT series that first aired in 2012.
Following the characters and story line of the Nick series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: New Animated Adventures, Vol 1. came out on January 21st.
The comic book has 4 self contained episodes that can be read in any order without the reader missing details.
Because the book is a spin off of the Nick show, fans of the Nickelodeon series will have an easier time understanding the plot.
There are also several pages of stand alone TMNT artwork, including a picture of the turtles before they became mutants.
While this comic may not appeal to adults it’s just about right for 6-10 year old kids.
The story lines are easy to follow and most of the language is simple enough that beginning readers should be able to read it alone.
That said, the dialogue and situations are quirky enough that it’s not painful to read out loud with the kiddos.
The paperback version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: New Animated Adventures Vol. 1 is listed on Amazon for $13.76.
It’s also available on the Kindle for $9.99.
I received a digital copy of this book through NetGalley, Diamond Book Distributors and IDW Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
