This morning, Nintendo announced a new entry in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon franchise. Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon will be coming to the United States this winter.
Nintendo says that “players can look forward to even greater, randomly generated dungeons that change each time they enter.”
This is a staple feature of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, which spans nine games on multiple platforms.
The franchise has sold over 13 million copies to date.
Not much has been revealed about the game other than “players will battle alongside Legendary and Mythical Pokemon to save the world in a sweeping tale of adventure and mystery.”
Players have had the option to recruit Legendary Pokemon in past games, so it’s possible that Nintendo is referring to that feature.
The last Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, Gates to Infinity, was not well-received by critics. It implemented the randomly generated dungeons in a new way that allowed you to explore anything you took a picture of with the 3DS camera.
Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is expected to launch on the 3DS when it releases this winter in North America and early 2016 for Europe.
