Nokia Announces New Smartphone

Nokia has announced a new smartphone for T-Mobile, the Nokia Astound.

Stated for release around April 6th, the Nokia Astound will be available exclusively for T-Mobile customers. The smartphone will be equipped with a  3.5 inch capacitive touch display as well as a 8-megapixel camera that has dual LED flash and 720p HD video capture. The touchscreen is protected by damage resistant glass, which helps with the overall durability of the phone.

Consumers will also find that the Nokia Astound comes pre-loaded with free turn-by-turn navigation software as well as games and access to many different types of applications via the Ovi Store. As another feature, T-Mobile users can bill their app purchases as well as services to their monthly bill or to a credit card.

Mark Slater, vice president of sales for Nokia stated, “”As millions more consumers make the switch to smartphones, Nokia is proud to offer an alternative that is not only easy and fun to use, but is also very sexy and sleek, unlike anything in its price point.”

The new Nokia Astound will be available nationwide throughout T-Mobile retail stores as well as online starting April 6. After a $50 mail in rebate card, the smartphone will cost $79.99 with a two year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan.

The Nokia Astound will also be available through select third party dealers and at certain national retailers.
