Our friends at NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) are at it again. This year, they have a new and improved Santa Tracking Website. This is, amazingly, the 55th year that NORAD has pointed their missile trackers and sensors toward a more organic flying object – namely good ole’ Saint Nick. The new website features holiday-themed games, activities, and videos taken from Santa Cams on the December 24th journey from the North Pole. The website is updated constantly over the next 24 hours during the big journey.
Google Maps and Google Earth are integral to the site, as are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and TroopTube. This year’s mash-up is quite an amazing feat and truly demonstrates the extent of cross-web platform development brought together. There is creative use of content and color that will surely excite your kids.
The website is aimed at children, but it is certain that adults will also find something of interest for them. Beginning at 4 AM EST on December 24th through 5 AM EST on December 25th, a free hotline for Santa tracking is also available (1-877-Hi-NORAD). The website that can visit right now and that you will surely want to bookmark is www.noradsanta.org.
