.PET: The New Website Domain

We’ve heard of .com, .net, and .org – commercial, network, and organization website domains, respectively – but Afilias, a domain registry operator located in Dublin, has introduced a new domain to the public: .PET.

.PET is an unrestricted, easy-to-remember domain that is ideal for animal shelters and rescues, breeders, groomers, trainers, veterinarians, pet hospitals, and other businesses in the pet industry – including pet food, treat, and product manufacturers.

Afilias’ Chief Marketing Officer Roland LaPlante released this statement about the introduction of .PET:

“When it comes to rescues, shelters, clubs, associations, and pet lovers of all kinds, .PET is the perfect choice of Internet address. .PET is designed to help pet lovers more easily find pet-related products and services on the Internet. It even works for sites dedicated to the pet itself (e.g., grumpycat.pet).”

You can get your .PET domain here.

Do you have a pet-related website or are planning to start one? Does the new .PET website domain interest you, or do you think it’s an unnecessary addition to the World Wide Web? Let me know in the comments, and then share this with your family and friends!
