Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is coming to a theater near you. Unfortunately, it’s not coming to you anytime soon. The latest installment of Disney’s wildly financially successful series has been given a release date of July 7, 2017.
That’s right, you’ll have to wait nearly three full years into the future until you can the yet untitled Pirates of the Caribbean 5, and by then, you may not even care.
The last Pirates movie, On Stranger Tides, was released in 2011, so it’ll be a full six years until the follow up is released. On Stranger Tides is generally regarded as the weakest film in the series, but Disney won’t miss out on the chance to capitalize on such a successful franchise.
Other movies slated for a July 2017 release include Despicable Me 3 and The Fantastic Four 2, assuming everything goes well with The Fantastic Four next summer. Of course, as of right now, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is the only new release scheduled for July 7, 2017, although there’s a chance that changes over the next three years.
