Plot Details Emerge For Magic Mike Sequel

Details are starting to emerge for one of the most anticipated stripper movie sequels of all time: Magic Mike 2, which is scheduled to unveil itself in theaters next summers.

Magic Mike star Channing Tatum told GQ Magazine about a story involving a strippers’ convention that he wanted to include in the first movie, but was told to save.

Magic Mike 2 has been described as a road trip movie, so a few strippers road trippin’ to a convention filled with strippers could very well be the story that unfolds in the sequel.

If that’s the case, Tatum told GQ that those conventions can get “exponentially crazier” than what we saw in Magic Mike, so there’s no telling how crazy the sequel could get.

The original Magic Mike was based on Tatum’s real-life experiences as a stripper, and now Tatum will be co-writing the sequel with Reid Carolin, who was the writer and producer of the first movie. It will be Tatum’s first foray into screenwriting.

Although Steven Soderbergh insists he won’t be directing the sequel after directing the first Magic Mike movie, he will have a meaningful role in its production as the director of photography and the editor.

Of course, the best detail to emerge thus far is the rumored title of the sequel being Magic Mike XXL.  The scheduled release date is July 3, 2015.
