Porsche’s mid-engined sports cars, the Boxster and Cayman, will be getting new names and turbocharged engines in the near future.
Reviving the historic 718 name, Porsche will rebrand its smallest cars the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman. Apparently, the two will also look even more alike, but for the first time the Boxster Roadster will cost more than the Cayman Coupe.
The original 718 was powered by a flat-4, so the new Boxster and Cayman will abandon their naturally aspirated 6-cylinders for turbocharged fours. Performance numbers have not been released yet.
The new 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman will be introduced over the course of 2016.
