Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes: Opening Date, Preview, Trailer {Video}

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, the second ‘Ape’ film of the new series, is coming in August.

The story is of the origin of the apes, where the apes shown in 2001 Planet Of The Apes movie came from. It all begins in modern day San Francisco, California, where a cure for Alzheimer’s is being sought. The test subjects… apes. One of those apes is Caesar. A name well known in ape fandom as the leader of the ape revolution against humans.

The Planet Of The Apes film series began back in 1968, a time when eyes were turned upward, dreaming of the upcoming missions to the moon. It consisted of five films in all, after the Planet of the Apes came Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, Battle for the Planet of the Apes. The original movie has long been considered one of the best movies of 1968, but unfortunately, the sequels that followed the original where not well received, and suffered from declining budget cuts and quality.

From the trailer, it appears that Rise Of The Planet Of Apes combines aspects of the story lines from the original series’ movies Beneath The Planet Of The Apes and Conquest Of The Planet Apes. The birth of Ceasar, and the revolt.

The trailer also feels like it gives much of the movie away, but we figure there must be more. You can see it below. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is set to hit theaters on August 5th, 2011.
