Smash Up To Get Pretty, Pretty Makeover

Smash Up is going pretty.

Alderac Entertainment Group, or AEG, has announced that designer Paul Peterson’s Smash Up card game will get a Pretty, Pretty expansion in March 2015.

In the Smash Up core game, players choose two factions of characters, shuffle their cards together, and create a new character. They can be vampire pirates, alien ninjas, and the like.

The Pretty Pretty expansion gives players very different choices from the core game or any of its subsequent expansions.

Instead of monsters, players can battle each other by mixing up fairies, mythic horses, kitty cats and princesses. The expansion adds eight new base cards, as well.

According to AEG’s website, fairies give players “magical wishes and fairy dust.”

Mythic horses “race across the land, trampling any who stand in their ways.”

Kitty cats can “compel those of weak will to do what they wish.”

And the princesses? They “make every wish come true through the power of pure love and happiness. Which can be used, oddly to order everyone about, and even destroy your enemies.”

The expansion can be played on its own, but only with two players. More players require the 2012 Smash Up core game, and can incorporate any of its four other expansions.

While the Pretty Pretty expansion won’t be available until March, AEG has posted the rulebook on its website.
