‘Sons of Anarchy’ fans can expect a ‘Godfather’ style finale, which has many wondering who will survive until the final ride.
EP Paris Barclay revealed in his interview with Collider that show creator Kurt Sutter is telling a story this season where “the chickens come home to roost, so bad things are gonna happen. It’s like ‘The Godfather’. Not too many people you saw at he beginning of ‘The Godfather’ were there at the end”.
Which means fans will be saying goodbye to their favorite characters on multiple levels this last season, so fans should expect to be on an emotional roller coaster from start to finish.
‘The Godfather’ reference may also be a subtle clue to Jax’s metamorphosis: in the movie Michael Corleone never wanted to be in the mafia but ultimately got pulled in due to circumstances beyond his control.
Similarly, Jax has been trying to make the club legitimate for years- now, due to his grief over wife Tara’s brutal murder it seems he will abandon that plan and embrace his dark side.
Barclay also explained that this season would be like 2 in 1 since the episodes are longer and full of action in order to tell the full story.
A big part of that action will revolve around Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and his showdown with his mother Gemma (Katey Sagal) once he discovers she is the one responsible for Tara’s death.
Katey Sagal let it be known that this season we will see an even more duplicitous, conniving Gemma as she scrambles to cover up what she did.
It will be interesting to see how the always riveting Sagal plays out what are sure to be the most intense scenes in the history of the show.
Reports indicate Gemma and Jax will face off during episode 7, which Sutter has previously referred to as the pivotal episode of the season.
Needless to say, we are counting down the days (25!) until it all begins
The 7th and final season of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ premieres with on September 9 at 10 P.M. (EST) on FX.
