Filming for the seventh and final season of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is set to begin shortly and word is there will be a new face in the crowd.
A female sheriff by the name of Alice Johnson will be joining the citizens of Charming, according to TVLine. Alice is a white, sassy, 40-ish woman who will be replacing Sheriff Eli Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar).
Roosevelt was a victim of circumstances at the end of last season: he walked in on Gemma (Katey Segal), who had killed Tara (Maggie Siff) and was subsequently shot by Juice (Theo Rossi), who was trying to help Gemma cover up the murder.
Eli was a by-the-book sheriff, but he had an understanding with SAMCRO and there was a begrudgingly mutual respect between him and Jax (Charle Hunnam).
He was a somewhat reluctant ally to the Sons; there is no telling what the relationship between the club and this new sheriff will be.
However, the fact that the new sheriff is a woman in a position of power is definitely not an accident, not with Kurt Sutter calling the shots.
As a long-time fan I believe he is setting the stage for some interesting plot twists as we head into the final chapter of this brilliant story he has woven.
Will this new sheriff be by the book or shady? How will she and Gemma, a strong female in her own right (and a murderer) get along? Could the new sheriff and Jax end up a couple?
This is all pure speculation-we have no idea at this point what Sutter has in store for us. Whatever it is though, I have no doubt it will be something truly special.
As of this writing there was no word on who would be portraying Alice. ‘Sons of Anarchy’ will air for the last time this September on FX.
