Sony Drops PlayStation 4 Price by $50

Starting tomorrow, October 9th, Sony will slash price of PlayStation 4 from $399.99 to $349.99 in US. With this $50 price drop, the Japanese video game console will be at par with Microsoft’s Xbox One 500 GB model.

But that is just the start of Sony’s plan to dominate the upcoming holiday season. Also on October 9th, Sony will release a 500GB PS4 with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the same price of $349.99.

On November 6th, Limited Edition Call of Duty: Black Ops III 1TB bundle will be available for $429.99. On November 13th, Limited Edition Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars PS4 Bundle will go on sale for $399.99. Then on November 17th, Sony will release Star Wars: Battlefront 500GB for $349.99 with option to get a limited edition model for $50 more.

PlayStation 4 is already the leading video game console with more than 20 million units sold as of March 2015.

As Sony noted, the price reduction at this particular time is their way to keep the momentum toward the holiday season. There are also speculations this price drop comes after Sony reduced PlayStation 4 price in Japan by more than 10 percent.

Regardless of the reason, a $50 discount is always a welcome move for video game fans and savvy shoppers looking for great deals.
