Sony Ericsson Xperia Play “PlayStation Phone” Available September 18

AT&T announced Thursday, Sept. 8, that it will begin selling the Xperia Play 4G on Sept. 18th. The smartphone slides up to reveal gaming controls similar to a PlayStation’s.

The portable gaming console smartphone will come pre-packed with seven free games, including: Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave, The Sims 3, Tower Bloxx, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, Star Battalion, Madden NFL 11, My City, and Crash Bandicoot.

According to PCMag, there are also 150 PlayStation-optimized games available for purchase or download via the “Get Games” screen, as well as others from the Android Market.

AT&T’s version of the Xperia Play 4G will come in an exclusive “stealth blue” color, and will come with accessories such as the Sony Ericsson Multimedia Dock DK300 and MC100 music cable.

The smartphone runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and has a 1-GHz Snapdragon processor. It features a 4-inch 480-by-854 pixel touch screen, and a 5-megapixel front and rear-facing camera.

The Xperia Play 4G will be available for purchase online and in stores for $49.99 with a two-year AT&T contract.
