Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has been tapped to play the lead role in the upcoming Mary Shelley biopic entitled Mary Shelley’s Monster.
Of course, Shelley penned the classic horror novel Frankenstein, and the movie will focus on her life around the time that she wrote the influential book.
Producer Rose Ganguzza says it’s “The story of the most extraordinary 19th century teenage heroine told in a visceral, sexy, contemporary way,” adding “It is a story of youth that transcends time, a gothic romance, a love triangle that involves a dark passenger.”
If the 18-year old Turner sounds a little young for such a role, it’s because Shelley was an astounding 19 when she wrote Frankenstein.
Writing the screenplay for Mary Shelley’s Monster is Deborah Baxtrom, who writes and directs the web series Living With Frankenstein. Directing will be Coky Giedroyc, while Jeremy Irvine of War Horse fame and Taissa Farmiga will co-star alongside Turner.
Filming of Mary Shelley’s Monster is expected to start later this year, with no release date set at this time.
