Spider-Man: Latest News From Comic-Con & The EOT Trailer {Video}

There’s plenty of hot news coming out of the 2011 San Diego Comic Convention for Spider-man fans.  Yesterday saw the release of the first official trailer for the new movie ‘The Amazing Spider-man.’  Amazing Spider-man is a reboot of the entire Spider-man franchise, going back to when Peter Parker was first bitten and developing his spider powers.

The Amazing Spider-man will star Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) as Peter Parker/Spider-man, Emma Stone (Easy A) as love interest Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1) as Peters mentor Dr. Curtis Connors and one of the films villains, The Lizard.  It will be directed by Marc Webb.

The trailer shows the darker bent of this story as well as some changes to the iconic Spider-man costume.  Garfield’s Spider-man ditches the natural webs shooting from the wrist for the web shooters Peter invented in the comics.  The spider on the chest has also been elongated.

The second piece of news concerns the Spider-man: Edge of Time video game.  A new trailer showcasing Black Cat, a thief with whom Spider-man has a short lived relationship, was released today.  The game is being developed by Beenox, who created the well received, Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions.  While Edge of Time is not a sequel to Shattered Dimensions, it bears a lot of similarities.

The story centers around the death of Spider-man and how he must work with Spider-Men from other dimensions to undo his own demise.  It is due to be released this October on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.

Here’s the trailer for End of Time:
