Sprint’s Motorola Photon 4G – This Summer’s Blockbuster?

Sprint announced earlier today that they will be launching 10 new Motorola wireless devices before the end of this year. One of the first to be launched will be the Motorola Photon 4G.

The Photon 4G may just be the smartphone to beat for 2011.

It has a 4.3 inch qHD display…. ok, we have mentioned qHD displays several times here at Sure Start News over the last few days, let’s get a bit more into that. The qHD is simply a high resolution screen, 960×540 pixels arranged in a 16:9 ratio, the ‘q’ stands for quarter, as it is a quarter of a full HD 1080p frame. Suffice to say, it should increase clarity, make text easier to read, and reduce pixalation when zoomed in.

The Photon 4G is a powerful smartphone, with a dual core 1ghz Tegra 2 processor. It has 16gb of on board storage, with support for a 32GB SD Card. It includes two cameras, one an 8mp camera (front-facing), and a rear facing VGA camera for video chat. The Photond runs on Android version 2.3 (what has been called ‘Gingerbread’). It’s a global phone, capable of international roaming. It is able to create a Mobile HotSpot supporting up to 8 devices.

The Motorola Photon 4G is going to be one of the first Motorola devices that
s been released on the Sprint network for quite a while. The launch is set for this summer… July has been mentioned as a possibility in many reports. We will keep track and report as soon as pre-ordering becomes available.
