Star Wars: Episode VII Adds Two To The Cast

The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII already includes the original trio of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher, rising stars like Nupita Nyong’o, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley, as well as wily old veteran Max von Sydow, and now two more names have been added to the list: Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson.

Both Clarke and Anderson are unknowns, and both were found during open casting calls, during which production 37,000 actors in 11 different cities throughout both the U.S. and U.K. in addition to 30,000 online applications.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said about the additions: “The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition.”

Roles for the new additions were not announced, and what we know about the newcomers is limited other than that Anderson knows parkour, which could indicate he’ll be involved in an action sequence, while Clarke will make her film debut next year in The Moon and the Sun, a period piece about Louis XIV that stars Pierce Brosnan and William Hurt.

Of course, just in case  you forgot, Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters December 18, 2015.
