Star Wars VII: Return of the Ewoks?

Star Wars VII: Return of the Ewoks?

Recent rumours have suggested that the furry inhabitants of the forest moon of Endor will be making an appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

These rumours started when it was discovered that Warwick Davis, who played the Ewok Wicket in Return of the Jedi, was a member of the cast for the new movie.

There’s no confirmation of Davis’ role at this time, nor is there one forthcoming. He also played Wald in The Phantom Menace, so him being an Ewok is far from a guarantee.

However, the second trailer for The Force Awakens offers some evidence that adds weight to the return of the Ewoks.

In the second trailer, we see someone unearthing Darth Vader’s burnt out mask. Since we know Luke built the funeral pyre for his father near the Ewok village, it’s not a massive leap to think his mask would still be there. Or, at the very least whoever went searching for it may have started looking at the village first.

There are also claims about concept art depicting a number of dead Ewoks, further throwing fuel on the fire of this rumour. It is believed that the Ewok deaths were by the hands of Kylo Ren and the flashy new stormtroopers following orders from The First Order.

Regardless or his role, having Davis on the cast continues the reunion of all the members of the original Star Wars Trilogy.

Obviously, we will not get any answers until Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in December.

What do you think about the possibility of Ewoks returning in The Force Awakens? Do you have any other suggestions as to the role Davis could play?
