Supernatural: Mark Sheppard Promoted to Series Regular

The CW Network’s Supernatural has always been known for its lack of regular characters.  For the first 4 seasons, the show’s only had two actors on the main cast: Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester).

Misha Collins (Castiel) was the first to be promoted to a series regular for the show’s fifth season.  However, Collins did not continuously remain a series regular; he alternated between a series regular (seasons 5, 6, and 9), recurring, and special guest star.  Collins is contracted to be a series regular for season 10.

The lack of series regulars within the long-running show makes a promotion to series regular all the more special.  Fan-favorite Mark Sheppard (Crowley) has been officially promoted to a series regular for season 10 as the infamous Crowley, the King of Hell.

Sheppard has been on the show as a recurring character for five seasons now, winning over fans with his wit and charmingly devious personality.  He even seemed to be the true “big bad” of season 8.  The actor has gathered quite a fan following within the genre, appearing on many other shows such as Doctor Who, Firefly, 24, The X-Files, and many more.

Due to the fact that Dean is now a demon, more specifically a Knight of Hell, it seems that the King of Hell is going to have a key part to play within their 10th season, potentially as a mentor to the new Knight.

Are you excited about Mark Sheppard’s return as Crowley?  What do you think of his promotion?  Let us know!
