SWAT Kats Kickstarter Announced

Christian and Tyvon Tremblay, creators of the 1990’s cult-hit animated series SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, have announced a new project: SWAT Kats Revolution, a continuation of the original series, which will be funded through Kickstarter.

Rumors of a Kickstarter project involving the series have been around since 2012, with the Tremblay brothers hinting at the project and engaging in constant communication with the series’s hardcore fans.

Some of the pledge rewards include a one-hour Periscope session with the Tremblay brothers, T-shirts, digital wallpapers, signed postcards and art books. Some of the more ambitious rewards include signed animation cells, colored backgrounds, and storyboard drawings used in the production of the original series.

The initial goal for the project will be $50,000, which will fund a new series bible, scripts for three episodes, and concept and character design art. Stretch goals include a two-minute animated teaser for $100,000, a complete, full-length episode for $200,000, a five-part miniseries for a million, and a direct-to-stream animated film for anything about $1,500,000.

The original series was produced by Hanna-Barbera and Turner Program Service, and ran from 1993 to 1995 before cancellation. It starred the vigilante duo T-Bone and Razor, who protected Megakat City from several villains.

What do you think of this project. Do you believe it will reach its goal on time? Will you be pledging?
