A female teacher has been accused of having sex with several male high-school students at Bay City Central High School. Heidi Lewis of Midland , arraigned on Wednesday also has a 17 year-old son. She is currently banned from unsupervised contact with anyone under age 18, other than her son.
Lewis, acting as a substitute teacher, was charged with 6 counts of third-degree sexual misconduct. An anonymous female student tipped police on her illegal sexual relationships with several students.
Heidi Lewis remains free on a $100,000 bond. Her attorney, Richard Lee Jr. told The Bay City Times that Lewis plans to waive her preliminary exam. No court dates have been set.
The aforementioned sexual misconduct supposedly occurred between June 2010 and December 2010. No sexual contact was made on school property. Lewis is also accused of a lesser charge of providing alcohol to a minor.
Just last week, a female gym teacher was arrested and charged with 16 counts of sexual assault with five male students, most of them varsity football players. Another female teacher was accused of having sex with 5 students and arrested January 6, 2010 in Illinois.
Psychologists are being called in the case of Lewis to determine if the misconduct was psychologically damaging to the students. Psychologists will also evaluate Heidi Lewis before the unknown court date.
