The 2015 Lexus NX CUV Adds A Little Style To The Segment

For 2015 Lexus has developed a new CUV, one that will feature the brands first ever turbocharged gasoline engine.

In an ongoing attempt to breathe excitement into the luxury wing of Toyota, the 2015 Lexus NX CUV follows the same plan as the latest GS and IS sedans, and features a much more exciting design.

The NX will be available in two forms.

The NX 200t uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The only transmission is a 6-speed automatic, which will transmit the power to either the front wheels or through an optional AWD system.

Alternatively you could opt for the NX 300h hybrid. This version uses a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine and a hybrid electric motor system.

The NX 300h E-Four AWD uses one electric motor to drive the rear axle when the system deems it necessary. Another electric motor will assist the engine by providing additional power to the front axle in unison with the power developed by the gasoline engine.

A regenerative braking system helps to charge the batteries. Interestingly the engineers split the battery into two different pods thus gaining more usable interior space and better weight distribution.

For those who feel the need to look sportier, there is also an F Sport Trim package available, but it is not much more than some body mods, sport seats and fancy wheels.

The interior has all the new toys that Lexus has to offer including: a Wireless Charging Tray for compatible phones and devices;  Remote Touch Interface (RTI) with a touch pad; and a comprehensive Multi-information Display that features a  G-Force meter and boost gauge.

The drive mode select dial allows the driver to adjust the responsiveness of the engine by selecting one of the three pre-programmed settings: Normal, Eco, and Sport.

The seating is luxurious and everything is wrapped in premium materials. Genuine leather in Crème or Black distinguishes the Luxury package, which also trims the cabin exclusively with Linear Mocha Wood.

The Lexus NX is smartly packaged luxury vehicle. It offers more than enough room for most of us, and Lexus wants you to know the cargo area can house 4 golf bags stowed sideways.

There are also four compartments underneath the cargo floor to provide space for keeping valuables out of sight.

Adding to the convenience factor is the power liftgate and power folding rear seats.

The dash is well laid out and looks like it belongs in this high-end CUV. I like the analog clock it adds a bit more sophistication.

The Lexus NX offers consumers a great package; all of the safety tech you would ever want; a comfortable and versatile interior; and the option of going green.
