The Best Places To Be At Night In NYC

It’s easy to list the best places to visit in NYC, during the day. But, do you know where to go after sundown? Here are the best places to be at night in NYC.

Central Park

Central Park is the perfect place to engage in sports, or go sightseeing during the day.

But, it is definitely the best place to be at night in NYC. You can relax in piece, because the park has lighting and is patrolled by both the New York Police Department and the New York City Parks Enforcement.

Staten Island Ferry

Staten Island Ferry runs between Lower Manhattan and Staten Island. Probably, it is the best free place to actually see NYC at night, because it offers fascinating views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jersey City, the Statue of Liberty and, of course, Staten Island. The last ferry departs from Whitehall Terminal in Manhattan at 11.30 pm.

Brooklyn Heights Promenade

Without a doubt, this is a must-visit place in NYC, especially at night. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is long 557m. It offers breathtaking views of Lower Manhattan’s skyline. Also the New York Harbor can be seen from there. Unfortunately, at night, it gets a little overcrowded, but it is worth the visit. When we talk about the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, we can’t miss to mention the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

The park has an area of 85-acre and, as the names suggests, it is situated on the Brooklyn side of East River. It starts from Manhattan Bridge in the north, past Joy Street and Brooklyn Bridge, under the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, south to Atlantic Avenue.  If you decide to go in Brooklyn at night, you can visit both places, since they’re close to each other. You can check the official site of the park, for information about current and future events.

Empire State Building

Empire State Building is for sure, one of the most visited places in NYC. My advice is to go there at sunset. Watch the sun go down, and then see the million lights of the city sparkling in the night. You have two options there: to go to the main deck (86th Floor) or the top deck (102nd floor). The first will cost you – 29$ (adult) and the second – 46$ (adult). But, be careful, there are people in front of the building that sell tickets for a higher price. Don’t get fooled! Buy your tickets inside. Keep in mind, that there’s always a line, so plan your trip and go as early as possible. Opening hours: 8 am to 2 am. Last elevator: 1.15am.

Top of the Rock

Top of the Rock or the observatory deck at Rockefeller Center, is another place to see NYC from a bird’s eye view. It offers a closer look of Central Park, and you can see the lights of Empire State Building at night. The ticket is 29$ (adult). Top of the rock, which is 70 floors above the ground, offers an interesting option called Sun & Stars. This is a ticket that allows you for 42$(adult) to visit the observatory deck twice, once during the day and a second time at night. Check their official site for more information about tickets and special offers. Opening hours: 8am to midnight. Last elevator: 11 pm.

Times Square

You can feel the nightlife of NYC there. Just sit on the red steps and embrace everything around. Unfortunately, it is way overcrowded, and if you want to see the place without so many people around you, you should go there around 4am.
