The CW Set To Do A Robin Hood Drama

Teen focused TV network The CW is currently pulling together a dramatic period television show set in the Robin Hood universe, to be titled Sherwood.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sherwood has already received a script commitment from the network. Tze Chun (Cashmere Mafia) is on board to pen the show, while producer Dan Jinks (American Beauty) is set to produce.

The description of the show according to The Hollywood Reporter:

“Sherwood is set in 1072 England and revolves around a young noblewoman who sets out to free her serf boyfriend, who has been wrongfully imprisoned by ruthless Norman occupiers. Seeing help from the vanished Robin of Locksley, she inadvertently reunites — and joins — the fabled Robin Hood and his Merry Men, inspiring new hope for the oppressed people of Nottingham.”

The CW is not a TV network to shy away from high profile style character adaptations for television shows, as they have shown with the success of Arrow.

Surprisingly, the network also has a few other strong character adaptations up its sleeves set to come out in the near future. Amazon, a Wonder Woman origin tale, a modern day take on Alice In Wonderland, and a Sleepy Hollow reboot are all reportedly on tap.

What do you think? Does a CW treatment of the Robin Hood myth sound good to you? Sound off in the comments section below.
