The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Trailer/Commercial Released

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Trailer/Commercial Released

Today marks the release of the first TV spot for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey“.

It is interesting because this is not only the first ad we have seen in the US for the film, but it’s also the first international TV spot.

The latest film from Peter Jackson starts a new trilogy in the land of Middle Earth. “An Unexpected Journey” tells the beginning of Bilbo Baggins’s story as he sets off on his adventures with the wizard Gandalf and a group of dwarves.

The group’s quest  is to reach the Lonely Mountain, where the Dwarves hope to reclaim their home from the dragon Smaug.  Before Bilbo can make it to the mountain though, he and the others have to go through a variety of dangers: such as trolls, goblins, wargs, and the creature known as Gollum.

The  film features Martin Freeman as the young Bilbo Baggins; as well as Richard Armitage, Graham McTavish and Stephen Fry who make up just some of the new cast members. The film also has several returning stars from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, such as Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Christopher Lee, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis Elijah Wood and Ian Holm.

Like any opening commercial for a movie , this TV spot works as a summed up trailer.  There is nothing new for fans to see. However, this spot still accomplishes its goal of promoting “An Unexpected Journey” to the masses. The trailer is below. “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” will arrive in US theaters December 14th.
