The iPhone 7: Everything You Need To Know About Apple’s Newest Phone

Apple has finally released its newest version of the iPhone, the iPhone 7. Running iOS 10, the iPhone 7 and its more expensive counterpart, the iPhone 7 Plus, have a number of new and improved features. Here are the key features to look out for.

No Headphone Jack: Apple, as rumored, has ditched the standard headphone jack. Instead, the iPhone 7 comes with a pair of headphones that connect to the phone’s lightning port (an adapter is also included, in case you still want to use your old 3.5mm jack headphones). Apple will also be selling wireless earphones, which it calls AirPods, for $159.

Water and Dust Resistant: The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus can survive exposure to water and dust.

Improved Cameras: The iPhone 7’s 12-megapixel camera comes with a host of new and improved features, including 6-element lens, a ƒ/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, and a wide color capture. However, it is the iPhone 7 Plus that really pack the punch, as it includes an additional 12-megapixel telephoto camera, with 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom (meaning that photos at more than 2x zoom will be cropped). Other improved features include a new Quad-LED True Tone flash that is 50 percent brighter than iPhone 6s, a new 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera, and a new image signal processor. The new camera features ensure that high-quality photos can be taken even in abnormal lighting situations.

Improved Performance and Battery: The iPhone 7 will, according to Apple, last an average of two hours longer than the iPhone 6s. It also comes with a new Apple A10 Fusion processor, support for 25 LTE bands, and LTE-Advanced support for speeds of up to 450 Mbps.

The iPhone 7 will also come in two new colors, black and jet black. Jet black iPhones have a glossy, mirrored look.

The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will be available on September 16th, but they can be pre-ordered starting this Friday, September 9th. The iPhone 7 starts at $649 with 32 GB of storage, with an option of paying more for the 128GB or 256GB versions. The iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769 for the 32GB version.

Apple has also announced the release of the Apple Watch Series 2, which comes with a GPS and costs $369.
