The Voice Season 7 Top 8 Recap: Who Gave The Best Performance?

Tonight on NBC’s Season 7 of The Voice, the Top 8 perform. Both Team Gwen and Team Pharrell have 2 remaining artists each. Team Adam still has all 3 of his artists, while Team Blake has only 1 artist left.

Let’s recap some of the best performances of the night.

Team Pharrell’s Danica Shirey “These Dreams” by Heart

Every time Danica hits The Voice stage, she proves that she can really sing anything and make it sound absolutely amazing. Tonight she did just that. She once again showcased her powerful vocal range and did a brilliant job of singing with immense heart and soul.

Gwen says, “That was beautiful. This was a great song choice. You are somebody who can do anything with your voice, so when you are put to sing a song that you can hear you do on the radio, it tames you a bit. It was perfect timing to hear that.”

Adam says, “Incredible! You can sing the dictionary and it’s gonna be good. You’re always amazing.”

Blake says, “You’ve been one of my favorites from the beginning. Your voice is enormous. It has so much strength and accuracy. I am so glad you are here.”

Pharrell says that he is so proud and thankful that Danica is on his team.

Team Adam’s Damien performs “Someone Like You” by Adele
Damien gave a heartfelt performance of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” He sang the song with so much conviction. The way he so passionately sang every lyric showcased his ability to really connect to the song. This song gave him the chance to once again reveal his beautiful vibrato and incredible vocal range.

Blake says, “I swear you are a machine. You sing with so much accuracy, passion and soul.”

Pharrell says, “It’s effortless the way you paint the air with those notes. Your range and your falsetto are amazing. I am super happy for you.”

Gwen commends Damien for giving a beautiful performance, while Adam says that this was Damien’s best performance yet.

Team Adam’s Chris Jamison “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye
This was the perfect song choice for Chris. He did an excellent job of embodying the sexy and smooth vibe of the song. Week after week, Chris continues to excel in his ability to command the stage and perfect his signature falsetto.

Pharrell says, “That was hands down your best performance on this show. The way that you got lost in the intention of the late great Marvin Gaye, you hit every note. This is your zone, stay right there.”

Gwen commends Chris for doing a great job, while Adam says that Chris crushed the entire audience.

Team Adam’s Matt McAndrew “My Blower’s Daughter” by Damien Rice
Matt gave one the best performances of the night with his rendition of Damien Rice’s “My Blower’s Daughter.” It was a beautiful and riveting vocal performance as Matt sang about the highs and lows of being in love. In certain points, you could hear the pain in his voice. It was a hauntingly uplifting performance to watch and definitely felt like it could be a track on his album.

Matt received a standing ovation by all the coaches.

Blake says that he had never heard the song before, but was glad that Matt’s version was his first time being introduced to the song. He says, “That was so good! You did that with just you and your guitar and it was freaking brilliant.”

Adam says, that Matt was able to embody the ups and downs of love and that as an artist is one of the most valuable things. He says that he absolutely adores Matt, while describing his performance as “very genuine and real.”

Well, that does it for our recap. Who was your favorite performance of the night? We want to know! Be sure to leave your thoughts below!
