The Voice’s Battle Round: Monday October 15

The Battle Rounds continued on Monday night’s episode of NBC’s The Voice.

All the battles were pretty strong tonight, but there were two that stood out from the rest.

Terisa Griffin vs. Julio Cesar covering Gloria Estefan’s “Congo”

The unexpected match-up between soulful singer Terisa Griffin and Mariachi singer Julio Cesar turned out to be an absolute hit. Both offered their own unique flavor to the song. Griffin offered her powerhouse vocals and sexy dance moves, while Cesar displayed his pure and sultry vocals. Both offered loads of energy and enthusiasm during the performance.

Christina was left speechless, while Cee-lo commended Terisa for showcasing her personality throughout the song. Adam discussed how it was an odd pairing, but still worked. Blake ended up choosing Julio because he said he believed he put the most work during rehearsals.  Cee-lo ended up stealing Griffin.

Joselyn Rivera vs Sylvia Yacoub covering Beyonce’s “Best Thing I’ve Never Had”

These girls have unbelievably strong vocals, they are a force to be reckoned with. Both displayed their low and high registers and brilliantly covered the song with lovely ad libs.

All the judges praised both performers. Adam particularly expressed his admiration saying how he believed them to be “gnarly good singers.”

Christina admitted that it was going to be a tough choice to decide whom to keep, but she ended up choosing Sylvia. Both Blake and Adam pushed their buttons to steal Joselyn; however, Joselyn ended up choosing Adam.
