With roughly 10 hours left to Cyber Monday sales at TigerDirect.com, we’ve created this at-a-glance feature of TigerDirect.com’s Featured Deals, to help you save time.
Yesterday, yours truly bought a new laptop from TigerDirect.com for her job writing for CP, and wanted to share her experience with you!
Let me clue you in on why my experience was great, and I consider myself a finicky shopper.
The laptop bundle included a rebate that will expire on 12/3/14. I was afraid that I was cutting the rebate too close. So, I got on the chatline (another great feature of their website).
Within minutes, a Customer Service representative came on. One would have thought that with the many holiday shoppers on their website, their chat service would suffer with long wait times. While I was waiting, I went for a bio break. Yes, even when one shops online, one has little time for bio breaks.
When I returned to the chat, a rep had responded six minutes earlier. I pinged him back, thinking he might be gone. Guess what, he was still there, and clarified for me that as long as the purchase date was before the rebate expired, I would be fine. He was attentive and knowledgeable. Check.
The second reason the experience was great is that at checkout, after entering my form of payment, the website asked me four personal questions from public records but few people should know the answers to. TigerDirect.com is employing very good fraud-protection measures. I like to know that I am shopping from a merchant who is doing their part in preventing cyber and credit card fraud from the get-go.
Thirdly, at checkout, because TigerDirect is a Google Trusted Partner, I was given the option to opt-in to $1,000 purchase protection for free! Google will go to bat for me should a problem arise with the purchase and I am unable to resolve it with the merchant. So long as my potential dispute is legitimate, Google will step in. According to Google, only who meet certain shipping and customer service standards are allowed to participate in this free program.
Lastly, after checkout, luckily I scrolled all the way to the bottom of the page and didn’t just X it out, for I found an offer for a $30 rebate. I call the number instructed, and was offered two $30 rebates for a total of $60.
The first rebate would be a check that I could cash, and the second was a rebate I could use within six months of another purchase at TigerDirect.com.
The only requirement was to sign up for a $1 one-month subscription to Great Fun with automatic monthly renewal after the first month. As long as I call to cancel before the first month is up, I will not be charged the ongoing rate, and the rebates are mine to keep!
I use the here for more information.
Now for the deal I snagged. I bought an HP laptop with 4GB of memory, 500GB of HD, 350GB Cloud Storage, for $389 and rebates of $140. This brought the price to $249. With the additional $30 rebate, the price is down to $219.
Additionally, it is being shipped for free.
Many items are, “Limit 1 (or another small quantity) per Customer” at TigerDirect. My purchase is one such one, and tipped me off that it was a hot item that would fly off the shelves. TigerDirect has done a good job at not running out of products for their sales.
