Top 5 Xbox Game Deals – Before Xbox One Launch, Games Go On Sale

With the launch of the Xbox One fast approaching you can be sure that game publishers, and developers, will be looking to “clear the shelves” as quickly as possible before it’s too late.

As a result, if you are willing to do a little sifting, you will find that there are many great deals to be had that will keep you gaming without lightening your pockets for the holidays.

Here’s my pick for the top 5 game deals for Xbox 360 owners (in order).

 1. Two Free Games Every Month!

By far, the most attractive deal to surface happens to come directly from Microsoft itself.

They have announced that they will be giving all current and future Xbox Live gold subscribers two free games every month until the end of the year.

These games, according to Microsoft, will be available on the 1st and the 16th of every month until the end of the promotion.

The titles being offered this month are Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising case : 0, both of which are from the critically acclaimed Dead Rising Series.

Even for those of you who are not the biggest fans of multiplayer gaming, a deal like this makes that 10 dollars a lot easier to swallow.

2. Pay $10 For New Xbox One Title, the immensely popular online retail store, is now offering its patrons and amazing trade up deal for current Xbox 360 games.

Amazon users can now trade in their old Xbox 360 games and, in addition to the regular trade in bonus ($25), will now get an additional $25 credit to put towards the purchase of the Xbox One equivalent.

That is $50 towards the purchase of a brand new Xbox One title dropping the actual price of purchase to a measly $10.

3. $50 Towards Xbox One Game

GameStop, much like Amazon, is also offering a trade up option to store faithfuls.

GameStop now awards shoppers that trade in select Xbox 360 titles $50 worth of credit towards the purchase of the Xbox One equivalent.

This deal however comes with some caveats that make it objectionably inferior to Amazon’s offering. To be eligible, shoppers will have to be a member of GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards Program and, would have also had to have purchased the game within 30 days of the launch of it’s Xbox One counterpart.

4. Free Microsoft Points

GTA5, the controversial, yet lucrative, creation from Rockstar Games Studio, is set to be released on September 17th.

Many gamers, including myself, have already put their money aside in anticipation of this title. However not many of us are aware of the 1600 complimentary Microsoft Points that come along with preordering the game.

It is quite curious that Microsoft, a company that has recently claimed to be moving away from the points model, is allowing developers to offer free MS points with game purchases (I guess it’s easier than giving away cash).

5. Free Xbox Live Season Pass

In a recent blog post by Major Nelson, the director of programming for Xbox Live, the launch of a  Season Pass Guarantee program was announced to the public.

In essence, Xbox 360 owners who have purchased season passes for select titles (games like Battlefield and Call of Duty) will get access to download a season pass for future titles within the same franchise come  (Xbox One) launch.

Strangely enough, there was no mention as to whether this will be a free download or, simply a case of early access.
