TWD Season 6 Spoilers: Kirkman Reveals Negan Will Change The Show Forever

Fans of The Walking Dead, if you were hoping that Negan’s arrival won’t be that bad think again, as TWD executive producer and comic book creator Robert Kirkman all but confirmed that Negan’s arrival will do lasting damage.

With the second half of season 6 set to begin on Sunday, February 14, Kirkman sat down with Entertainment Weekly to give viewers a preview of what’s coming- and it doesn’t sound good.

Speaking about the arrival of Negan, Kirkman told the mag that:

“As far as shake-ups go, we have lots of shake-ups from season to season,” then added: “It keeps things interesting — keeps the blood pumping, I like to say — but Negan is kind of an atomic bomb that’s going to be dropped on the show and the show will probably never be the same after that.”

Most comic book fans already know, Negan is leader of a group known as the Saviors and is on a whole other level that the of the Governor.

Some hoped he would be a bit toned down in his TV incarnation, but it doesn’t look like that is a possibility- making the possibility of Lucille appearing now a probability.

As Kirkman tells it, Negan is and will be, Rick’s greatest adversary as well as a mirror of how Rick would be if he gave into his dark impulses, saying Neagn: “had his morality dial a few clicks away from Rick toward the darker aspects of his personality” but he is an “intelligent and “formidable” leader.

In other words, unlike the half-crazy governor or the blood thirsty terminus crew, Negan and the Saviors are prepared and adept- something Rick and co. have never encountered before.

Thought they may be cruel, they do not act on impulse: like Rick, Negan knows how to plan, to incite and to have people be loyal to him.

Kirkman said it best when he told the mag: “It’s really the best encountering the best,” adding: “When these two forces come head to head, things are gonna get interesting.”

So fans can and should expect that this new phase will be long and winding- as Rick may have finally met his match.
