Verizon has finally brought back an unlimited high-speed data plan. For $80 a month, Verizon users will get access to unlimited data on Verizon’s 4G LTE Advanced Network. Two lines will cost $70/month each, three lines $54/month each, and four lines will cost $45/month each.
Ten GB of 4G LTE mobile hotspot tethering is included for free; after that, you’ll still be able to tether, but at 3G speeds only. HD video streaming is also included, as well as free calling and texting to Mexico and Canada.
Of course, “unlimited” high-speed data is never truly unlimited. After 22 GB of 4G LTE data, service will be prioritized when the network is congested. However, unlike throttling, where data speeds are automatically slowed down for the rest of the month after a certain data limit is reached, lower data speeds are not guaranteed here, even after the 22 GB limit — you’ll only be slowed down if and when the network is busy, and after that things will return to normal. You may never experience slower speeds at all.
As we reported a few months ago, T-Mobile and Sprint have already introduced unlimited data plans. However, after Verizon announced its new plans, both T-Mobile and Sprint have upped their own plans to include HD video streaming and 10GB of mobile hotspot data.
Unlike T-Mobile, however, Verizon isn’t chucking its lower-priced plans — new customers who are light data users can still sign up to Verizon’s old limited plans.
