Vital Essentials Recalled: Possible Salmonella Contamination

Carnivore Meat Co. of Green Bay, Wisconsin, has recalled a single lot of its Vital Essentials Frozen Chicken Patties Entrée for Dogs due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

The recalled product is the 6lb. Vital Essentials Frozen Chicken Patties Entrée for Dogs (UPC 3321100807) with a lot number of 11475 and a best by date of 20161108 (11/08/16).

The best by date and the lot number is found on the back of the package.

No illnesses or deaths have been reported in animals or humans in association with this recall.

No other Carnivore Meat Co. products are included in this recall.

Pet parents who purchased this recalled product are to stop feeding it to their dogs immediately and call the company at 920-370-6542, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4 p.m., CST, to receive help on obtaining a replacement or a refund.

Pets who have been infected with Salmonella can experience some or all of the following symptoms: diarrhea (possibly bloody), decreased appetite, fever, lethargy, and vomiting.

Carriers of Salmonella can infect other pets and humans, so it’s imperative that owners contact their pet’s veterinarian immediately.
