Walmart Offers Free Shipping This Week To Counter Amazon Prime Day

Walmart is offering free shipping on all of its products, with no minimum purchase necessary, from today through Friday of this week.

This comes as Amazon is getting ready to celebrate its second annual Prime Day on July 12, when Amazon Prime members have access to a wide variety of deals.

Last year, Prime Day brought Amazon an unprecedented amount of sales, and it hopes that this year’s Prime Day will bring in similar results. However, its competitors don’t want to be left out, and Walmart is offering some deals of its own.

Besides the no-minimum free shipping deal, Walmart is also offering discounts on a variety of products. These discounts sometimes amount to hundreds of dollars on a single product, and can be viewed by visiting Walmart.com.

The free shipping and the deals will be available to all Walmart customers, unlike Prime Day deals, which are exclusively for Amazon Prime members. “We believe saving money every day is better than just one, and that all customers should save, not only some,” Walmart said in a statement, taking a not-so-subtle swipe at Amazon.

The news comes after Walmart started offering a 30-day free trial of its Shipping Pass program at the end of last month. Shipping Pass costs $49 a year, and members get access to free 2-day shipping on Walmart products.
